Projects

Totally real and interesting projects of the BRN Systems company

If running my own mail server(Postfix and Dovecot) on a dynamic IP and an Asterisk PBX for my personal use and for trunking with friends has taught me anything, it would be that with enough tenacity and determination, no amount of config files, documentation and tutorials can prevent you from self hosting anything.

These pictures are of my projects and also of some random things I took a picture of.

First is a Quansheng UV-K5 mod swapping the I2C flash for an SPI flash before realizing, that the I2C bus is also used for the BK1080 broadcast FM radio receiver. I had to solder the old I2C flash back on and miraculously, it survived a lot of heat just fine, while retaining all the configuration data.

Then there is the my server blade without a rack, which caused me to look for a normal rack mounted server to use the CPUs and the RAM sticks.
